First salary ₹14,200. Financially independent. My story

Sound familiar?

Does this sound like you?

  • You're always a little anxious about money, even in a good month.
  • You don't really know where your salary goes, or how much you actually save.
  • You keep meaning to "sort out your finances", and another year goes by.
  • You have financial goals, but no clear idea how to get there.
  • You feel your spending habits, or not knowing enough about money, are holding you back from your goals.

If you nodded along, you're not bad with money.

Nobody teaches us this at school or at work, so most of us figure it out alone, by trial and error. The good news is that money habits can be trained, just like fitness. That's where I come in.

₹52 lakhthe cost of waiting 5 years

Someone who invests ₹10,000 a month from age 30 to 55 could end up with about ₹1.24 crore. Starting at 35 instead, the same habit could grow to about ₹72 lakh. Same effort each month, five years later, roughly ₹52 lakh less.

Illustration only, assuming a 10% annual return compounded monthly. This is not a projection or a promise of returns. Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks.

None of these are fixed by a product. They are fixed by habits, and habits are easier to change with a trainer.

The idea

Your financial health deserves the same care as your physical and mental health.

Money worries don't stay in your bank account. They follow you into your sleep, your work and your relationships. We wouldn't expect to get fit without a trainer, or get through a hard time without someone to talk to. Yet with money, most of us are on our own until something goes wrong.

02 · Emergency cushionIf your income stopped tomorrow, how long could your savings cover your expenses?
03 · EMI loadHow much of your monthly income goes to EMIs and credit card bills?
04 · ProtectionDo you have your own health insurance, and life cover if anyone depends on your income?
05 · Goal clarityDo you know what your big goals will cost, and whether you're on track?
06 · Money stressHow often do money worries affect your sleep, mood or relationships?

Answer all six to see your results.

Why it happens

What holds people back, and the habits we build instead.

In conversations with people in their 20s, 30s and 40s, the same few patterns come up again and again. Most of them have little to do with income.

  1. No idea where the money goes

Without tracking, spending feels smaller than it is, and saving becomes whatever is left over.

    Know your numbers

A simple monthly picture of what comes in, what goes out and what stays.

  2. Lifestyle creep

Every raise brings a bigger phone, car or holiday. Income rises, but savings stay where they were.

    Save first, automatically

Savings go out on payday, and rise every time your salary does.

  3. Waiting for the "right time"

After the next bonus, after the wedding, once markets settle. Meanwhile, years of compounding slip by.

    Start small, start now

A routine you can keep beats a perfect plan you keep postponing.

  4. No safety net

Without an emergency fund, every surprise becomes a credit card bill or a broken investment.

    A cushion first

Money set aside for surprises before investing, so they stop being emergencies.

  5. Investing on emotion and tips

Buying what friends or social media are excited about, then selling in a panic when markets fall.

    Goals before products

Every rupee linked to a goal you care about, and reviewed on a schedule, not on headlines.

  6. No plan, and no one checking in

Good intentions fade without clear goals and someone who holds you to them.

    A trainer in your corner

A check-in every quarter to catch slips early and keep you going.

My story

I started with ₹0 and a first salary of ₹14,200.

That was 2014. I didn't come from money, and nobody around me talked about investing. Studying for the CFA charter taught me how money works. What actually moved the needle, though, was habit: saving first, staying invested through bad years, and not letting one decision undo the last ten.

Twelve years of those habits later, I have saved and invested 33 times my family's annual expenses. That is financial independence, often called FIRE. I no longer need a salary to live the life we want.

The biggest change wasn't the number. It was the peace of mind.

I know how hard it is to build good habits alone. Now I want to be the trainer I wish I'd had.

Where you are today: income, spending, savings, loans and investments, plus how you grew up with money. A full, honest starting point.

Session 2Free

Diagnose

Your money vitals, and which habits are working for you and which are quietly costing you. No judgement, just a clear picture.

Session 3Free

Plan

Your goals for yourself and your family, and the few habit changes that will make the biggest difference.

Then, if you chooseEvery 3 months

Train

Regular check-ins to review progress, catch slips early and adjust as your life changes.

Whether or not we continue, you'll leave with a clear picture of where you stand and what to change first.

How I'm paid

Two ways to work together. You choose.

The check-up is free either way. After that, pick whichever suits you. Both include the same year-round coaching:

  • A check-in every quarter
  • Honest feedback when you slip
  • A call before big money decisions
  • Check-ins on how you feel, too
Option 1 · Flat annual fee

Year-round coaching

One fixed fee for the year, agreed upfront.

  • Help with budgeting, saving and tracking spending
  • Invest wherever you like

The fee is for coaching and education on money habits. It does not include investment advice.

Option 2 · Commission

Invest through me

No fee to you. If you choose to invest in mutual funds through me, I receive commission from the fund houses, and I'll always tell you what that is.

  • Help setting up and running your mutual fund investments
  • Paperwork and transactions handled for you

There is no obligation to invest through me. My goal is to help you build the habits that lead to financial success. Where and how you invest is always your decision.

Questions

Things people usually ask

What does a financial fitness trainer actually do?

The same thing a fitness trainer or nutritionist does, applied to money. We understand your current situation, diagnose the habits that help and hurt you, set goals together, and then meet regularly so you stay on track while those habits change.

What happens in the free check-up?

Three sessions. In the first, we look at where you are today. In the second, we diagnose the habits that help and hurt you. In the third, we agree the few changes that will make the biggest difference. There's no fee and no commitment, and you don't need to prepare anything.

Will you try to sell me something?

No. The free sessions are about you and your habits, not products. If you later want help investing in mutual funds, you can choose to do it through me, or anywhere else. There's no obligation either way.

I'm embarrassed about my finances. Should I still reach out?

Yes, please. Most people feel that way at first, and it usually means you're ready for a change. There's no judgement here, only a starting point.

Can my spouse or partner join?

Yes. Money is usually a family matter, and it helps when both of you are part of the conversation.

Are you an investment adviser?

No. I'm an AMFI-registered Mutual Fund Distributor, not a SEBI-registered Investment Adviser. The annual fee is for coaching and education on money habits, and doesn't include investment advice. If you choose to invest in mutual funds through me, I'm paid by commission from the fund houses, not by you.

What happens after the three sessions?

You decide. If you'd like to continue, you pick how to pay (a flat annual fee, or commission if you invest through me), and we meet every three months to review your progress. If not, you'll still leave with a much clearer picture of where you stand.

What if I fall off track?

You will, at some point. Everyone does. That is exactly what the quarterly check-ins are for: we notice it early, work out what got in the way, and adjust the plan so it fits your real life.

Do I need a lot of money to start?

No. Many people I talk to are just getting serious about saving. Starting early with a clear plan matters more than starting big.

Can we meet online?

Yes. We can meet in person in Mumbai, or on Google Meet from anywhere in India. You choose when you book.

Can you promise returns?

No one honestly can. Mutual fund returns depend on markets. What I can do is help you build good habits, stay disciplined, and avoid costly mistakes.
